The Proposal

Cole and I had been talking about getting married for about a month. I would throw around ideas and he would tell me to stop talking about it because I will ruin the surprise. Haha! We did agree that we wanted a fall wedding and we would love to get married outdoors. For those that know me well you know I hate surprises. I enjoy to be in the know about everything so the suspense of an engagement was killing me! The weekend of April 5th was any ordinary weekend for us. Cole worked til 6 on Saturday and we had been texting back and forth about what we were going to do for dinner. He asked if I wanted to have dinner in Nashville (which is about 30 minutes from our hometown) and I of course said yes! I'll admit I was suspicious because we don’t go to Nashville often especially planned at the last minute. I picked Macaroni Grill for dinner which is located at Opry Mills. Afterwards we did a little shopping and then we were trying to decide what we were going to do for the rest of the evening. At this time, Cole was still unable to drive so I didn’t want to go to a bar and not be able to have a drink with him because I had to drive back home. So he suggested we get a hotel room which is when I became more suspicious. We booked a room at The Holiday Inn Express and called a cab. We went downtown but it was more crowded than normal because of Womens Basketball. My feet were tired and I would of loved to just enjoy each others company at the hotel room. We went to one bar and then went back to the hotel and listened the band play at the bar. Nothing had happened. Cole could tell I was clearly disappointed and said "its going to be a surprise so quit thinking about it." The next morning we ate at our favorite breakfast spot, Bob Evans! Yum.
We headed back to home to take a shower and a quick nap before we met Cole's parents at noon to go to Patti's in Kentucky to eat. I thought nothing of this because we been to Patti's before with his parents. So, as always, we were running behind. I told Cole I would prefer to go down Madison Street because I thought it was quicker than the bypass. He quickly reassured me that he wanted to see the boat races at the river so we should drive by there. A little frustrated, I went down the bypass. When we got near the river I said "see Cole there is nothing going on!" He told me turn here (under the covered brick bridge at the intersection by where they display the Christmas lights and Mary's Music). I said Cole, NO! we don’t have time. But yet again, I listened. Then he said park here, lets get out and walk. I repeated myself, Cole we don’t have time. (I could just hear his dad saying "y’all are late!") So I left everything in the car and got out. When I got down to the green bench I said "oh my gosh who is watching this ring box?" Cole laughed, got down on one knee and began to propose. I freaked out, tears rolling down my face and I shook my head yes. After he placed the ring on my finger (which is absolutely beautiful, and the one he told me he could never afford) I began asking again, who was watching this ring box?? He pointed at his parents who were recording our proposal from Kenny's truck! So perfect...he definitely surprised me.
Just a little history, the bench Cole proposed at is the same bench he asked me to be his girlfriend at 2.5 years ago!  I love him so much and I cant wait to spend forever with him, til death do us part!!
